CODOFIL PROVIDES BOOKS FOR FRENCH IMMERSION STUDENTS

Official Press Release: Dragons-Protege-Reves-Final

Thanks to the Council for the Development of French in Louisiana (CODOFIL), students in
Louisiana’s French Immersion program will be experiencing the joie de lire (joy of reading) with the illustrated book Que les Dragons Protègent Vos Rêves (May Dragons Guard Your Dreams) by Baton Rouge authors Jenny, Jared and Jeanne Webre Lamy. French Immersion programs from throughout the state will receive class sets of this book.

These books will be provided to schools in the following parishes: Assumption, Calcasieu, East Baton Rouge, Iberia, Jefferson, Lafayette, Orleans, St. Landry and St. Martin.

“The story is about finding the joy in life, keeping one’s focus on dreams and joyful moments,” said Jeanne Webre Lamy.

Telling the story of a boy finding a trusted friend in a dragon, the book was reviewed by a committee of French Immersion teachers and was found to be most appropriate for kindergarten and first grade students. Que les Dragons Protègent Vos Rêves is a gift from CODOFIL to schools with French Immersion programs where children naturally read in French. According to Dr. William Arceneaux, president of CODOFIL, such initiatives are made possible by the many state legislators who continue to support the efforts of CODOFIL in Louisiana schools.
